Fireworks over Magic Island

Each year, the merchants at Ala Moana Center hold a "thank you" fireworks display at Magic Island on the Fourth of July to thank the public for it's patronage and to celebrate the founding of this country.
These are some of the photos from 1997's celebration.

Notice how these air bursts seem to look like palm trees?

The pictures were taken with the Nikon FE2, bulb setting (F11-F22, two-four seconds, typical), Fuji Super G 200 film, Nikkor 28-85mm F3.5-4.5 zoom, resting on a Bogen 3221 tripod and activated with a cable release.
