AJA Veterans National Convention

July 4, 1998

The AJA Veterans held their program luncheon of the national convention on July 4, 1998. It was the first major convention held at the Hawaii Convention Center. The event was well attended by several thousand Nisei soldiers, their families and friends.


General Eric Shinseki was one of the program speakers at the event. General Shinseki is commander of the U.S. Army, Europe (USAREUR) 7th Army and Allied Land Forces Central Europe (LANDCENT)

A video tape entitled "Kodomo No Tame Ni" featured insights from various Nisei soldiers. Here, Thomas Takemoto of the 1399th Engineering Construction Battalion shares his thoughts.

Among the guests were Senator Daniel K. Inouye. Senator Inouye himself served in the 442nd RCT.
